Our Story

Pastors Andy and Terri Shaffer, Lead Pastors

Andy and Terri Shaffer were both active members and leaders in their home church when God placed a burden in Andy’s heart to pastor. He pursued this calling by getting his ministerial credentials. By the time he was ordained in 2004, God had given him a desire and vision to plant a church, but he didn’t know how, when, where, or why.

During this same time, God was revealing a similar vision to Terri in small pieces that would later “fit together like a puzzle.” She began to journal, and after eight months, shared with Andy a notebook full of ideas about planting a church in the Plainview area of Sampson County. God continued to birth the vision of The Journey in Andy and Terri’s hearts as they trained and prepared to pioneer this new church.

They both knew that it had to be a church that would have relevant biblical teaching, contemporary worship, casual dress, and a great kid’s ministry—a church that would actually be fun, meeting people where they are on life’s journey!
